The Opportunity
As part of the Kilburn Up High commission, the Founder Director of Lin Kam Art and artist Linett Kamala will lead a mentorship programme to two creatives from Brent and Camden council.
Criteria: Age 18+ (no upper age limit). Resident of either Brent or Camden. Not had artwork shown in a public space before.
Artistic – Applicants will be asked to submit examples of their work.
We will focus on skills and knowledge required to help participants secure their first public art invention.
Applicants from all backgrounds will be encouraged to apply, including those with any disabilities. Travel and lunch expenses will be covered. All materials and equipment will be provided.
The programme will run for four weeks, with weekly face-to-face sessions at the Lin Kam Art Studio in Metroland Cultures, 91 Kilburn Square, London, NW6 6PS
Duration: W/c: 16 January 2023 until w/c: 6 February 2023

About the workshop:
All are welcome to attend this free interactive workshop with local artist Linett Kamala from Lin Kam Art and be part of a new art project for Brondesbury Bridge on Kilburn High Road.
We will be exploring youth culture in Kilburn over time including the rise of graffiti art in the1980s and music venues along the high road.
The workshop will take place in the wonderful Institute of Contemporary Music Performance campus, just off Kilburn High Road.
Suitable for age range 18+

Background about the project:
Camden Council, in partnership with Brent Council and the Greater London Authority (GLA), through the High Streets for All Challenge, have jointly commissioned a public art project for Kilburn Town Centre.
Delivery partners for this project are artist Linett Kamala of Lin Kam Art and Wood Street Walls who will install the final design.
